The WOP-P Master stimulates “learning-by-doing” as a way to assure an optimal learning performance. Of course, it requires an additional effort by the teacher. For regular courses and activities, teachers use case studies, challenging situations and exercises, and problems that are close to the real life of the organization (e.g., design of a psychosocial risks analysis in one organization), although typical examinations also exist in some cases. In the Winter School, the “learning-by-doing” strategy is accentuated. The student has to deal with an open and complex challenge that requires the design of a new intervention for a new problem. For all activities, students have two automatic chances to pass that are included in the fees and participation costs.

Therefore, the WOP-P Master implements a gradual evaluation of student’s competencies over time. Although dates are agreed and communicated each year before starting the academic year, tentative critical dates exists:

  • Beginning of the first semester: September 14 – October 1
  • Beginning of the second semester: February 15 – March 10
  • End of the second semester: July 5 – July 15
  • Delivery of the Position Paper: (first year of the Master): April 15 – April 30
  • Delivery of the Research Work: (first year of the Master): June 25 – June 30
  • Public presentation of the Research Work: (first year of the Master): July 3 – July 15
  • Final marks of the first semester (although students receive partial marks and feedback of assignments gradually and over time): March 15 – March 30
  • Final marks of the second semester (although students receive partial marks and feedback of assignments gradually and over time): July 5 – July 20
  • Final marks for the second chance (although students receive partial marks and feedback of assignments gradually and over time): September 5 – September 20
  • Winter School (Joint Intensive Learning Unit): February 15 – March 10
  • Delivery of the Master Thesis (second year): June 25 – June 30
  • Public presentation of the Master Thesis: (second year of the Master): July 3 – July 15
