Occupational and Organizational Psychology Applied to Disaster Scenarios, Pandemics, and Extreme Environments, Prof Laura Galarza (University of Valencia, Oct 2025)
On October 31, Prof. Laura Galarza will participate as a speaker at the National Congress of Psychology Students with a presentation entitled “Occupational and Organizational Psychology Applied to Disaster Scenarios, Pandemics, and Extreme Environments”.
This presentation discusses the research and application of Work and Organizational Psychology to disasters, pandemics, and extreme environments. Research and applied projects developed to examine organizational and human resource practices used following several natural disasters in Puerto Rico, such as hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, and pandemics, will be discussed. The presenter will also share her experiences applying Work and Organizational Psychology to extreme environments and in the selection and training of personnel for long-distance missions to space and the International Space Station, as well as its relevance to industrial-organizational psychology applied to extreme environments and natural disasters.
